About the event

The RSPB Bird Tales is a rich treasury of fact, folklore, traditional tales and seasonal crafts and activities, celebrating 25 of our most familiar and best-loved British birds. We are looking forward to writer, Dawn Casey, and illustrator, Lucinda Warner, bringing these stories and fabulous illustrations to The Bookshop for an evening of nourishment and learning. Come and hear a roll call of folk names, fascinating folklore, superstitions and beliefs - as well as key identification features, tips to help birdlife thrive and awe-inspiring facts that reveal the true wonder of birds' lives.

Dawn will share the classic folktale, The Wild Swans, a tale of the grace of silence, the magic of the wild, and the power of love. The tale is illustrated by a candle-lit story-box, a traditional storytelling form using hand-made paper-cuts to create a gentle stream of scrolling silhouettes.
