About the event

As the history of the Roman Republic drew to a close and that of the Empire began, the gradual colonisation of southern France was inevitable. What was not predictable is how this could be achieved without disruption to the economy. This new book by Philip Kay-Bujak takes a look at the deeper causes of Roman imperialism - with some references to international imperial ambitions in our own world.

The gradual takeover and then creation of Gallia Narbonennsis is a key example of how Rome conquered and then absorbed foreign lands and then administered and exploited them. This book would be a great read for anyone interested in how Rome functioned and also for the traveller of southern France with numerous examples of what is still visible of the Roman presence today.
