About the event
Local Author Matilda Leyser combines three jobs, working as a Mother, a Writer and a Theatre Director, but began her career working as a circus aerial rope artist. 'No Season but the Summer' took her twelve years to write and combines the themes of mother and daughter relationships (Demeter and Persephone), with those of climate change.
Matilda talks about the presence of two stories in any piece of art. The story within the work itself, and the story that tells how it was made - the origin story.
Join us in The Bookshop for an evening thinking about both these things. About the relevance of ancient myths today, about what it means to combine parenting and creativity, and about the role of art in initiating change.
Matilda is a bold and passionate mother, writer and artist. This is sure to be a fabulous evening.
